What is this code?

LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Cytomegalovirus T-cell immunodeficiency panel. It is commonly used with the system or sample type Bld.

When is it used?

  • Used in lab systems, EHRs, and clinical data exchange.
  • May identify a test, observation, survey item, or clinical document request rather than a diagnosis.
  • Status: ACTIVE
  • Order vs observation: Order
  • Panel type: Panel
  • Method: Flow cytometry

What it does not mean

  • The code identifies the observation or test, not the actual result.

Key facts

Cytomegalovirus T-cell immunodeficiency panel - Blood by Flow cytometry (FC)
Cytomegalovirus T-cell immunodeficiency panel
This panel contains results for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) CD8 T-Cell immune competence by Flow Cytometry. Patients tested are cytomegalovirus (CMV)-seropositive and may have 1 or more of the 5 major histocompatibility complex (MHC) alleles, including HLA A1, A2, B7, B8, or B35. Testing is performed to monitor CMV-specific CD8 T-cell responses in patients at higher risk of CMV disease. Testing may be performed on allo-hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplant patients who are at risk for developing late CMV disease or having CMV reactivation post transplant or after the cessation of antiviral prophylaxis. For transplant recipients and patients with autoimmune disorders receiving therapy with immunosuppressant agents, testing is useful for determining over immunosuppression within the CD8 T cell pathway. This panel was created for, but not limited in use to, Mayo's CMV CD8 T-Cell Immune Competence Quantitative Assessment by Flow Cytometry.[https//www.mayocliniclabs.com/test-catalog/Overview/88826]
