Amyloid bodies, or corpora amylacea, are opaque, rounded bodies found in the acini of the prostate and occasionally in urine. Abnormal deposits of amyloid bodies, or amyloidosis, can be harmful. Older men often develop amyloid in the ducts of their prostates (corpora amylacea), that could underlie some cases of Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
