Vitamins and minerals are pivotal for our growth and development, we all know that. So what’s so special about Vitamin D and why is everyone talking about it?

For starters, it’s produced from sunlight exposure of the skin and only a small variety of foods contain a significant amount of Vitamin D. It’s a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it dissolves in fats and oils and can be stored in our body for a long time.

But what does Vitamin D do and why is it so important?

Vitamin D helps our body absorb Calcium and as we all know, calcium helps in bone development. It is also vital for maintaining a healthy nervous and immune system.

A lack of this vitamin in the body can cause Rickets: a bone disease common in children and Osteoporosis: a disease that thins and weakens the bones making them fragile and easy to fracture. Vitamin D deficiency also affects your immune system, making you feel like you’re always drowsy and tired.

How do we maintain adequate Vitamin D levels?

You can get Vitamin D in three simple ways: through your skin, from your diet, and in the form of supplements.Sun exposure rarely provides adequate vitamin D, making it necessary to obtain it from supplements or your diet.

If you want to naturally maintain Vit D levels, try introducing these items in your diet- egg yolks, saltwater fish, and liver. Some other foods, like milk and cereal, often have added vitamin D

What are some potential benefits of Vitamin D?

Getting enough Vit D is important for regulating the absorption of Calcium and Phosphorous while also facilitating the immune system. Among other benefits Vit D helps reduce the risk of bone fracture and bone deformity, it increases your physical strength, uplifts your mood and repairs bone health.

What if you take too much of this Vitamin?

Any Vitamin overdose is considered toxic and since Vit D is fat soluble, it easily gets stored in the form of fats and oils in the body. Some easy to identify symptoms of Vit D toxicity include constipation, high blood pressure, vomiting, weight gain, hair loss and abdominal pain.

What are the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency?

If you get sick often or you think you have a weak immune system you might want to get your Vitamin D levels tested. Feeling tired and fatigued, experiencing muscle pain especially in the lower limbs can also indicate deficient Vit D levels. However it is important to note that most people do not show significant symptoms so it’s even more important to get tested once in a while.

The bottom line is that Vit D deficiency is very common and most of us are unaware of it. If you think you may have a deficiency, it’s important that you speak with your doctor and get your blood levels measured.

Taking care of our health remains to be the most valued aspect of our lives and even then we struggl ewith small things like getting enough sunlight daily. We get it, you’reoccupied with 10 other things which seem as or sometimes even more important than taking care of your own self.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
