LOINC Code 53748-0: Lupus anticoagulant neutralization dilute phospholipid (PPP) [Time]
53748-0 is a LOINC code used to identify Lupus anticoagulant neutralization dilute phospholipid (PPP) [Time] in laboratory and clinical observation data. You may see this code in lab systems, lab reports, EHR exports, interoperability feeds, or other structured clinical data exchanges. LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Lupus anticoagulant neutralization.dilute phospholipid. It is commonly used with the system or sample type PPP.
What is this code?
LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Lupus anticoagulant neutralization.dilute phospholipid. It is commonly used with the system or sample type PPP.
When is it used?
- Used in lab systems, EHRs, and clinical data exchange.
- May identify a test, observation, survey item, or clinical document request rather than a diagnosis.
- Status: DISCOURAGED
- Order vs observation: Both
What it does not mean
- The code identifies the observation or test, not the actual result.
Key facts
- Lupus anticoagulant neutralization dilute phospholipid [Time] in Platelet poor plasma
- Lupus anticoagulant neutralization.dilute phospholipid
- A modified prothrombin time is performed using diluted thromboplastin reagent which lowers the phospholipid concentration, which optimizes sensitivity to Lupus Anticoagulants (LA). Standard prothrombin tests are usually normal in patients with lupus anticoagulants because of the high concentration of phospholipids in normal thromboplastin reagent. Lupus anticoagulants are antibodies which inhibit the coagulation results of phospholipid-dependent tests including APPT, KCT,dRVVT, and dPT. The dPT test screens for the phospholipid-dependent inhibitors of the extrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade.
