LOINC Code 85512-2: HDV RNA NAA+probe Qn

85512-2 is a LOINC code used to identify HDV RNA NAA+probe Qn in laboratory and clinical observation data. You may see this code in lab systems, lab reports, EHR exports, interoperability feeds, or other structured clinical data exchanges. LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Hepatitis D virus RNA. It is commonly used with the system or sample type Ser/Plas.

What is this code?

LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Hepatitis D virus RNA. It is commonly used with the system or sample type Ser/Plas.

When is it used?

  • Used in lab systems, EHRs, and clinical data exchange.
  • May identify a test, observation, survey item, or clinical document request rather than a diagnosis.
  • Status: ACTIVE
  • Order vs observation: Both
  • Method: Probe.amp.tar

What it does not mean

  • The code identifies the observation or test, not the actual result.

Key facts

Hepatitis D virus RNA [Units/volume] (viral load) in Serum or Plasma by NAA with probe detection
Hepatitis D virus RNA
HDV screening of all Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) patients is recommended and HDV viral load (HDVL) detection and measurement should be considered whether or not the patients already have antibodies to HDV. In CHB patients, HDV can occur as a co-infection or superinfection and the course of the disease may be accelerated. [PMID24293018] This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, ARUP Laboratories' Hepatitis Delta Virus Quantitative Real Time RT-PCR assay. The viral load is reported in IU/mL. The IU conversion factor, as determined by validation, is 1 IU/mL = 138 copies/mL.
