LOINC Code 87435-4: C. immitis IgG and IgM panel
87435-4 is a LOINC code used to identify C. immitis IgG and IgM panel in laboratory and clinical observation data. You may see this code in lab systems, lab reports, EHR exports, interoperability feeds, or other structured clinical data exchanges. LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Coccidioides immitis Ab.IgG & IgM panel. It is commonly used with the system or sample type Ser/Plas.
What is this code?
LOINC codes identify tests, measurements, observations, survey items, and clinical questions in a standardized way. It is associated with the component Coccidioides immitis Ab.IgG & IgM panel. It is commonly used with the system or sample type Ser/Plas.
When is it used?
- Used in lab systems, EHRs, and clinical data exchange.
- May identify a test, observation, survey item, or clinical document request rather than a diagnosis.
- Status: ACTIVE
- Order vs observation: Order
- Panel type: Panel
What it does not mean
- The code identifies the observation or test, not the actual result.
Key facts
- Coccidioides immitis IgG and IgM panel - Serum or Plasma
- Coccidioides immitis Ab.IgG & IgM panel
- This panel contains quantitative (titer) Coccidioides immitis antibody results and ordinal C. immitis IgG & IgM antibody results in serum. Serologic testing for coccidioidomycosis is performed when patients show symptoms of pulmonary or meningeal infection and have a history of possible exposure to Coccidioides immitis (i.e. the patient lived or traveled in areas where Coccidioides immitis is prevalent). The IgG antibodies may be associated with a recent infection but also can be detected in the serum months or years after the initial infection. The presence of IgM antibodies suggest acute primary coccidioidomycosis and are detectable in most patients in 1 to 2 weeks after onset of symptoms. IgM antibodies may persist several months or longer.
